Being a layman of sorts on the issues you wrote about, I find it difficult how you tend to skip over several important points; "Federal Government accomplished nothing?? I think you best do your homework more. Our airports are safer now than ever!

Invasive of baggage checks? Thank the God you do not believe in that this is being done. I know people like yourself would be the first to complain if someone smuggled a gun aboard a plane and caused it to crash. You would complain (providing the plane did not crash yet) about how that gun got aboard your plane and wonder why no one checked their baggage...

Hiring stupid people at check-ins and at baggage counters? Is this how we caught many people trying to smuggle in knives, guns and explosives?
I may not be as eloquent with my words as you are but my meaning has an equal impact.
When I go to the airport, I feel a lot safer than ever before and I do indeed thank God for the stupid people who catch others with contraband, and I thank God for the invasion of all baggage to ensure me that no one is able to carry a gun on board.

Your opinions are just that, opinions and I wish in your time travel theory we could bring back others as well. But suffice it to say you are entitled to your opinions.
best,
Bob Dolfi

Congratulations on your article, I quite enjoyed reading it and feel that Governments and Airlines are overreacting to potential terrorism.

The CEO of Air New Zealand was interviewed on television last Thursday and happened to mention that in the past couple of years the worlds Airlines have lost money to the extent of all the profits ever made by that industry.

In my opinion the reason for that is all this security nonsense.

With my business activities I have been required on 3 occasions this year, to venture 1000 or so miles South of Civilisation to the City of Dunedin, New Zealand.

On the last occasion I flew with Air New Zealand and was astonished at the mindless and unnecessary security proceedures before I could get on the plane.
As if any Islamic Terrorist would waste their time bombing Dunedin of all places!

The two previous flights to and from Dunedin were with the delightful Origin Pacific Airways.

Instead of an army of stupid security personnel, Origin Pacific at Dunedin Airport has one staff member standing around looking bored.
At the appropriate time she announces, (between yawns), that everyone should board the flight.
We passengers do so, the plane takes off back to Auckland (and civilisation) and surprise, surprise we survive.

This article popped up randomly. With ther recent Supreme Court decision, it seems especially timely.

Good thing you didn't have Sam Adams on the list - be needing new justices then.

From the article:

concerts, and fireworks are all fun. But we must never forget what we are supposedly celebrating. Patriotic events are mere noise unless the patriotism is a celebration of the dignity, the sovereignty, and the rights of man. If we fail to keep that in mind, the festivities become a sham.

I respond:

Not so. The celebration was about Independence, not the Rights of Man. If you recall, the Colonies (at the time of the Declaration) were half slave. Some rights of man!
