There are only two words I'd like to read in this series:

THE END.

And I note while writing that the author has still failed to address Roderick Long's critique of the very premise of this series back in Post 28, March 16, of the first of the series. No surprise there.

Peter,

"There are only two words I'd like to read in this series:
THE END."

Now I feel bad about there being only two installments.

"And I note while writing that the author has still failed to address Roderick Long's critique of the very premise of this series back in Post 28, March 16, of the first of the series. No surprise there."

The reply is in the complete essay, as well as in my book. But you haven't really READ either. No surprise there. Tee hee.

Odd how we're talking about it here at instalment five then.

"The reply is in the complete essay, as well as in my book."

Nope. It's not in the essay. And as a sales job for your book your writing here hasn't been awfully compelling, has it.

Peter,

Sorry, I meant two installments remaining. There will be 7 altogether. Bet that makes your day booby.

Hmmmm, I think I've figured out who should be the first two combatants in a SOLO deathmatch.

Andrew,

Think we can get Tina to sing We Don't Need Another Hero for us too?

You get a sanction for bringing up Tina.

My column-name (for my regular college paper column) is "Private Dancer"

I'll just say that it's autobiographical as well as metaphorical.

Alec,

There - I just bonked you right back.

What's a little sanction between Tina fans anyway?

The bitch is baaaaaayaaaaaaaaad!

Michael

btw - She ain't the songwriter and she ain't the arranger. But she has the great-artist-glory-mark. You hear just a few seconds of a track of hers and you already know who it is (or who it is imitating). That's her, baby. And she runs a tight ship sound-wise.

(Edit - Er... ahem... ah... I forgot that we are on a Plato thread - sorry Fred - I think I'll call Mel Gibson over to help you out there with Peter...)

Tina's also an example of how inner passion and confidence can translate into physical beauty. She wasn't at all attractive in her younger, miserable days -- and she isn't attractive naturally. But since she went SOLO with such grandeur and happiness, she's been beautiful. You can see it. She glows.

I had the pleasure of attending the final concert of her final tour, five years ago. It rocked!

And just to add: I think the Seddon-Cresswell feud is one of the most charming aspects of SOLO. What about an actual dialogue between the two, so their searing comebacks are non-stop and uninterrupted by the chores of posting technicality? A real deathmatch, conducted via Instant Messaging, with the transcript published on SOLO. That way, they can conduct their debate fluidly and get everything out.

Huh? How bout it? Come on!!! I'm waiting to set the odds,

Alec

If any dipshits actually come forth and express what they'd be willing to wager, we might be able to estimate a freakin' purse. But everyone's silent.

I *am* serious about the idea, though. An actual, "live" debate between you two (via IM) would not only straighten this mess out for good, it would provide wonderful entertainment to SOLO readers, who will read the transcript. If you both express interest, let's do this thing.

I'll wager ten bucks to five that Cresswell takes Seddon down.

Call me a dipshit, but I'm putting $10 on the Cresswell dude.  I saw somewhere where someone said Seddon was a comic. If he is, I'm surely not getting it. Was this series supposed to be humorous, serious or just plain dumb?  I'm willing to see PC challenge him, but not for more than ten bucks.
