| | Bill,
Had I thought that you yourself needed the criticism, I would have addressed you, not Deanna. Given that no-one here is endorsing Logan's Run, I just thought the tone was getting a bit strange. So as to be clear, I have no wish to die, and have no expectation of living forever. As I said, we are only alive TODAY in any case, and it is how we live TODAY that matters. Our TODAY is a summation over time, so it does depend upon both our past actions and our future orientedness. I am not advocating range of the moment living. But I think that by assuming that immortality is just around the corner, (as per Kurzweil, who takes 250 supplements a day) some people may lack the urgency they would otherwise feel under a deadline. Each man's life is his own, and I feel no obligation to pass judgement on how others live, unless, as Deanna said, it affects me directly. But having lost a sister at 26 and the love of my life at 28 (my ages) I know that most people under 50 have no conception of mortality and its capricious nature.
