It's easy and painless. The reader runs in the background, but never causes me any computer problems.
When a website, blog or news site I subscribe to is updated, or has new information posted, I get an alert in the bottom right corner of my screen letting me know. A small white box appears with "headlines" of the latest additions to the subscriptions.
Wiki, of course, gives an excellent overview here, but you just have to try it to see how incredibly valuable and handy the RSS process is. I think you'd really dig it, Luke.
