The four most prominent atheist authors of the day have converged to do a DVD where they chat together about a variety of subjects.  The proceeds go to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali security trust.  Here are some clips

Dennett was seriously ill at one point (I forget with what affliction) to the point that he wasn't expected to make it, but he somehow pulled through.  I saw a clip of him talking about that and he said many of his religious friends kept telling them they'd pray for him, and he told them that he appreciated that but that if it were up to him they would spend their time doing something more constructive (or something to that effect).  I also remember him attributing his survival to the science of medicine, and not to the intervention of a deity.

Dennett had a dissection of the aorta. Doctors succeeded in keeping him alive. During a spectactularly difficult surgery, Dennett was given a new aorta and aortic arch.He seems to have made a full recovery.

Dr. Dennett is 65 going on 66.

Last year he was hospitalized with a serious illness. He was a Death's Door but he did not go through.

Here's Dennett in early 2006, looking like Charles Darwin:

Thanks for that terrific picture, Ed! I really like this foursome. I think that a lot can be learned about human nature from evolutionary theory. When I go to a zoo, I'm always fascinated by the primates.
