Ed,

I'm afraid internet research on bird blending has proven rather difficult. I can find several studies, but they differ considerably. I found lots more blogs and such whose info I've been unable to verify. The studies widely acknowledge that bird blending has previously been poorly quantified. The numbers on bird mortality have differed wildly. It does seem that raptor casualties are of greater worry than casualties of other local birds or migratory birds. It also seems that migratory patterns have been largely plotted; turbines can be shaped so as to be more noticeable for birds; and positioning of wind farms (e.g., offshore) can reduce casualties. So the problems is being addressed. Moreover, I have not seen studies discuss the prospect of bird population off-sets. I would think that it'd be possible to tally the number of bird casualties, then either (a) introduce breeding programs and/or (b) reduce the number of casualties from other bird munching human-made devices.

Jordon, more to the point would be the fact that no, it would not be enough power to supply the whole US, nor would it be remotely feasable.  The idea is just a clever soundbite to parrot on TV for the proles to gobble up.

Kurt,

Open another Internet Explorer window that has the picture and drag the picture to the Create New Post window.

Kurt,

I was pondering whether to add that point. Still, I'd like to see wind farming adds a nice piece to the energy diversity puzzle.

Kurt, I added an old thread giving instructions on how to add images but I can't find it in a google search right now. You can look back in the old forum threads. I will post the link later tonight if I find it, or someone else may have the link. I give the instructions on how to do the html code, not just click and drag.

Kurt, you can go here and use the same instructions except the code is (img src="URL-HERE" align=RIGHT vspace=8 hspace=8)

there is no (/img src) needed.

of course, replace ")" with ">" and "(" with "<"

the align=right can have right replaced by LEFT TOP or BOTTOM

vspace=# and hspace=# give a vertical and horizontal margin, with # = any number from 1 to ?, the dimension is in points. Eight is what I almost always use.

Spacing and spelling matters, but capitalization doesn't.

If you just want to post an image with no alignment then

(img src="URL-HERE") is sufficient, just type your text before or after.

Ted:

When you place your picture on the right side of the text, are you using a two-column table? I assume that ROR accepts any valid HTML code.
