I just *knew* this would happen one day.

He's designed a hat.

A hat for Objectivists to wear.

It's not just a top hat...

...it's a *pretty* top hat.

Ooooooh! Wow!

Why didn't I think of this?

Cos I'm not *motherfuckin' nuts*, that's why!!

Old news, gentlemen, old news.

Stolyarov's fabulous Golden Top Hat of Mambrino was in fact launched a year or so ago in this very forum:

If he pulls a rabbit out of that hat, does that constitute coercive force?

The one thing I admire about Gennady is his determination to get his ideas accross. I don't agree with much of what he says, but the guy is driven.

At first I thought that hat was a drawing of a coffee cup.

Ha, Ha! Far too decadent for our puritanical Stoly me thinks.

Today coffee, tomorrow Alcohol and hard drugs!!! ;-)

Not this damn thing again.

I agree with what Katdaddy said about it on another thread, as a graphic/icon it's dreadful.

Icons need to be simple, memorable, and to the point. Think of the golden arches, the Superman s-shield, the playboy bunny... and then THE HAT?

uggh

Hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahaha!

Ah, that was good.  If I didn't know Gennady, I'd say it was tongue-in-cheek.  The "O" Hat.  That'll be my new avatar.

Gennady's a good kid.  I'll cut him some slack.  Doesn't mean I won't make fun of silliness.

It reminds me of the helmets worn by the Sardaukar in the David Lynch movie production of Dune.

Ross,

You read Diana Hsieh's blog too.

(I was browsing there the other day... Guess what I saw?)

SOLO and NoodleFood seem to have a sort of 60s-U.S./Soviet-nuclear-secrets thing going on. Every now and then some post will show up on SOLO that was on NoodleFood just a few days ago, or vice versa. Of course, both sides would prefer not to even acknowledge the other's existence, so posters on both sides rarely concede that they found the material on a persona non grata site. Although, Adam Reed has thankfully broken this tradition lately.

We SOLOists have a saying: Galt created the internet to train the faithful. One cannot go against the word of Galt.

MSK:

"You read Diana Hsieh's blog too."

Yep, but I hadn't read it for some time. An item of Adam Reed's got me back there. I'd also forgotten that the hat was old news, but there's so many new members now it doesn't hurt to give things like that another airing.

As others have said, Stoly's a bit over the top but you have to admire his spirit. But, man, that hat is creepy vis the thought process that must have gone on to conceptualise it.

I wonder if he has one. Stoly, if you have, let us know, eh? Love to see a pic :-)
