I liked the thrust of the message.  But it does suggestion correlation rather than causation, i.e. the scores on standard intelligence tests correlate with the acceptance or denial of religious precepts.  More to the point, while we can cheer about these positive correlations between high measured intelligence and atheism, how would we react to correlations between high measured intelligence and statism?  Certainly some notable intelligent scientists have shown sympathies for state control of the masses in various ways: Albert Einstein supported socialism while B.F. Skinner favored state conditioning of the individual in his novel Walden Two.

Let us appreciate these studies while not getting carried away with what they purport to "prove."

I have noticed several YouTube presentations like this along Atheist, Libertarian, and even Objectivist lines, some of which are quite good. I wonder if the growing YouTube phenomenon would be a prime target for activism?

Yes, it is.  I created a Director's Account at

http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=LutherSetzer

which authorizes me to upload any number of videos of any length and up to 100 MB in size per file.  Anyone who can make a persuasive argument for himself as a content generator can do this, thus beating the usual 10 minute limit available to all.  The RoR Executive team has an interest in pursuing this outreach possibility.

Luke,

What'd you tell them?

I just noticed your post, Ed, so I apologize for the delayed response.

I told them that our organization produces multimedia material to promote the ideas of writer Ayn Rand.

I recommend working with Joe to create one standalone e-mail address that all the RoR staff can use for uploading videos to YouTube rather than just upgrading your own account.  That will help with the management of our long range video assets.  You can upgrade your own account, too, but I want to think about how best to integrate the common resources.

Great idea, Luke.

I do plan -- in the future -- to have instructional videos regarding Objectivist thinking/application. Having them screened (and then sanctioned) by at least the RoR Exec group, first -- would be optimal.
