If tides somehow turned -- such as if a new disease transmitted via heterosexual sex only had wiped out most hetero's -- if the tides turned and gays were no longer a minority, then Obama would turn on them in a heartbeat for a political gain (if needed).
He doesn't support your individuality, but your minority status. In that way, you are very much like a number to him (and not a person); and numbers can be "crunched" -- if it becomes expedient.
