I see now that there are several references to Stein in Journals of Ayn Rand. I had forgotten about them, and in fact formed my opinion long before reading the Journals. Here are AR's own words, with an editorial interpolation explaining the character's changed name, in the "Notes While Writing [The Fountainhead]" section:

For Gertrude [Lois Cook]: deliberate sloppiness--as careful as grooming--and for the same purpose.

As a satire on Gertrude Stein
Lois Cook was depicted just fine.
English rules were made mockery
by that namesake of crockery,
and for that 'roused the Passion of Ayn.

Marcus, why would you think I was drunk. I totally missed the party with the spiked toothpaste. And I don't know what you were referring to as to a question to Rodney as I didn't ask him anything. Geez whats a girl gotta do around here to get a drink (or a laugh)?  Maybe I'll write a book.  "The Virtue of Silliness" has a nice ring to it.

"Geez whats a girl gotta do around here to get a drink (or a laugh)?"

I guess we've all got to foam our domes once in a while ;-)

Maybe at SOLOC 4 you could "shake yo money maker"?

Be sure to bring Rodney with you though ;-)

Hello Rodney,

I think Marcus was trying introduce you or he was confusing you with Robert or Michael. I'm not quite sure. I think he's been drinking again.

* curtsy*  how do you do? Minnie Muse at your service.

I won't be going to Solo4 because I will be washing my hair while watching Brady Bunch reruns.
I guess we've all got to foam our domes once in a while ;-)
Actually I'll miss it because I will still be on an job assignment, but yawl have a good time without this damn yankee.

I won't be going to SOLOC 4 either, so we'll be doubly unable to meet. (Actually triply, since I am married!)

Too bad. I've always wanted to meet with a cat woman.

Dayammm, Minnie Muse!

Yawl went an' got me all discombobulated now.

Heah is anothah unpresumin' one rhyme endeavah from my modest pen:

First you put out a feeler.
You get a bite from a concealer.
You look and you find an idealer.
So now it's time to reveal her.
Voilá! You've now got a ____________.

Ahll let yawl fill in the blank.

Shucks. Can't make it to SOLOC 4 this time either. Just as well. You really think there are those out there who would get me or Robert all mixed up with Rodney?

Michael

Michael, you are quite a poet indeed. Your immense talent is beyond reproach.

First you put out a feeler.
You get a bite from a concealer.

You look and you find an idealer.
So now it's time to reveal her.
Voilá! You've now got a ____________.

deep thoughts.  Being the egoist that I am I would fill it in with Wheeler.

How about:

First you put out a feeler.
You get a bite from a concealer.
You look and you find an idealer.

So now it's time to reveal her.
Voilá! You've now got an open keeler.

Mike, Ok, you need a theme. Since you remind me so much of Foghorn Leghorn why not a cartoon theme. My favorite cartoons are Family Guy and Futurama.

Marcus, I shall have Linz call you a pomo wanker if you don't tell me what keeler is. I'd do it myself, 'cept apparently its not a ladylike thing to say.

Katdaddy,

I was thinking of "keel" which as you should know is the frame of a ship. I thought it fitted well with the fishing theme. Also "open" because you were a concealer initially.

However keel doesn't rhyme, so I made it "keeler" instead which according to the dictionary is a "small or shallow tub" sometimes used to wash dishes. Now that could mean that your quite "dishy", which is British slang for good-looking or attractive.

So, don't be offended ;-)

Minnie mah deah,

Despite youh indubitable elevated taste in populah entertainment, we ahre guests heah. May I suggest yew do yoah musin moah in the direction of Abjetavism - but with that chahmin personal touch that only a muse of youh lofty sensibilities can entertain?

Ah do believe yew have an admirah, katdaddy. He's quaaht a lookah, too. But don't yew go let no unfeelin double-dealin keelin sweet talkah go stealin youh heart now, heah? Yawl be washin dishes till kingdom come befoah yew know it.

(Do forgive me, Marcus. Don't want to spit in your soup. Can't resist the clowning.)

Apropos - Foghorn Leghorn indeed!!! Ah am not lahk him. He is lahk me.
