Very good and appropriate Ethan. I do have a hard time getting a handle on the section of the quote which reads: "A man in this condition no longer has the means to determine consistency or contradiction, truth or falsehood."

There are some who have the means, and know full well what is true, but choose to go down the other road anyway, because, lacking integrity and pride, they receive some kind of emotional payoff.

Actually, "the most lethal form" of non-integration is a lie. This is a typical inept Peikoff quote. I don't know the context, but this ridiculous paragraph is over-reaching in thought and ham-handed in style, with the usual cultist subtext and atmosphere. This virtually worthless paragraph is characterized by bullying, arrogance, fatuity, general menace, and loose talk essentially conveying nothing. But give Lenny-boy credit: It still manages to be poorly expressed, hard to follow, and worthless and unpleasant to read. This poor, unfocused, rambling, ramshackle quote is good maybe for brainwashing someone, or stilling human curiosity, or crushing a free spirit, or killing the fun of intellectual adventure and searching. But it is not good for thinking or understanding or gaining insight and wisdom.

Andre,

I disagree. A lie is a form of evasion for one thing.

As for the part about bullying, cultist, etc, etc, etc. I don't see that at all. I know from your many many many posts that you have a strong hatred of the ARI. I don't share that hatred, and I wonder if it's coloring your comments here.

Andre,
A good rule of thumb for a rant is that the number of words used by the ranter should not exceed the number of words of the rantee.
