Some call it "supply-side" or "trickle-down Reaganomics."

How come dummycrats can still get away with such a judgmental denunciation of "trickle down" as BHO did, last Thursday night?

Why are Americans still having a debate about it?

Why do dummycrats say that the debate should be over -- because they've already won it on empirical grounds?

...give more and more to those with the most

This is just despicable. GIVE more to those with the most... Aren't those with more "giving" the most?! What the hell! This is so classic with these people - take their property and then harpoon them for having it.

Here's a thought as to why this always works with people who think like this - prosperity means money ONLY. That's basically what Barack is saying isn't he - the government is giving (allowing) people with money to retain more of it in the hopes that it will trickle down to those who actually deserve it. I had a friend in high school whose dad said the same thing. He had trouble holding a job (because they never paid him what he was worth - cough) and complained about "Reganomics" - the money never trickled down to him.

Tim,

That kind of notion of "trickle down" makes me visualize little baby chicks in a nest, trying to out-gawk each other for the next re-gurgitated worm from "momma." Yuck.

That's not the best -- or even a remotely accurate -- view of mankind, I'd have to say.

There is only one sense in which the phrase "trickle down" is accurate. Those who do nothing productive at all in a free market economy still derive some benefits that are side effects of the productive efforts of others. It is those unproductive whiners that created the name "trickle down" because not being happy getting a small something in exchange for nothing, they'd rather be able to just take what they want, while still doing nothing productive.

And, as Tim noticed, look at the verb he used, "...give more and more..." - "Give" not earn. He sees all wealth as common property and he, Emperor Obama, will determine how to dole it out.

Obama is wrong to cite what is stated in this quote as the reason for our current housing crisis. Besides the issue of government giving instead of letting us all keep what we earn, government didn't "give more and more to those with the most" -- government gave more to those with the least (as in those with the least credit) in order to cause this very problem!

Of course, this doesn't let McCain off of the hook, because he says that the problem was caused by having too long of a leash on greedy corporations -- as if corporations were these things that are supposed to be (like dogs) kept on leashes in the first place. McCain doesn't challenge the anti-capitalist notions and attitudes, he plays on them like a harp -- which will eventually bring this country down.

Only libertarians like me (e.g. Ron Paul, Tibor Machan, John Stossel, Bob Barr, etc) truly "put country first" -- in the most meaningful and moral sense of those terms.

Has anyone else heard the comment by Senator Biden that the "rich" paying more taxes would be "patriotic"?
