| What The Industrial Revolution Did For Us Posted by Tyson Russell on 6/15, 11:34pm | ||
| What The Industrial Revolution Did For Us is a fascinating six-part documentary on the innovations of the period 1760-1840. It hits the high points of many innovations: roadways, canals, textiles, railroads, steam engines, machines of war, medicine, etc. The episode that depicts the evolution of roadways, waterways, and railways is especially great. This series is special in that you get details not only on the inventions, but the creators as well; their struggles to discover and combine the properties of nature are briefly depicted. You discover innovators and innovations that you would never otherwise come across. Best of all, as a credit to this wondrous time, most of the innovations are business solutions that either open new markets, lower prices, or both- like what canals did for coal. It's a BBC program. I've recorded it off of a public broadcaster here in Canada. Catch it if you can. | ||
