Michael Barone is the author of the new book "Our First Revolution: The Remarkable British Upheaval That Inspired America's Founding Fathers." His previous books include "The New Americans: How the Melting Pot Can Work Again," "Our Country: The Shaping of America from Roosevelt to Reagan," and "Hard America Soft America: Competition vs. Coddling and the Battle for the Nation's Future." He is the principal coauthor of the biannual "Almanac of American Politics." Michael Barone is a senior writer with U.S. News & World Report and a contributor to Fox News Channel. He was formerly on the editorial page staff of the Washington Post, was a senior staff editor at Readers Digest, and was vice president of polling at Peter D. Hart Research Associates, a public opinion firm. He graduated from Harvard University in 1966 and Yale Law School in 1969.
