| Matt Damon plays Actuary Posted by Merlin Jetton on 9/12, 6:38pm | ||
| “You do the actuary tables and there’s a one-out-of-three chance, if not more, that McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it will be President Palin." - Matt Damon Also according to the Boston Herald Hollywood leftie Matt Damon has ponied up $4,600 to Barack Obama this year and $28,500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. It should be no surprise that Damon doesn't know what he's talking about or is lying with statistics. Using mortality rates from the Social Security table here, the chance of McCain not surviving 4 years is 14.4%. Using the same table the chance of McCain not surviving 8 years is 31.7%. Maybe Damon learned something like the second, so it would have been acceptable for him to say "one-out-of-three chance that McCain doesn’t survive two terms." But he said "one term" and turned it into a falsehood. Arguably McCain's chances are little better. Using a mortality table commonly used for employer pension plans for healthy males, the numbers were a little lower (by 2% and 3%). | ||
