| All Blacks Slay Lions Posted by Ross Elliot on 7/09, 3:33am | ||
| The import of my comments will be lost on all but a few million afficionados of this planet's greatest sporting pastime. Of course, I'm referring to the game of rugby union. The game that New Zealanders (and the wonderful Welsh) call, simply, footy. The Lions is the name given to the combined footy forces of England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland, which every four or five years, tour some part of the rugby playing world. In 2005 it was New Zealand, and their opponents were the mighty All Blacks. Well, just an hour ago, the All Blacks whipped the Lions ass in a 3-nil blackwash. The hapless Lions barely fired a shot in this most sublime of battles. Our backs scythed through paper thin defence and our forwards mauled, rucked and scrummed their way to a most deserved victory. In a game that is defined as much by the finesse of delicately swivelling hips as it is by the violent, crunching exchanges of massed bodies, the New Zealand All Blacks proved, once more, that our national character lends itself to the most perfect execution of skills in the most heroic of team pursuits. Kia Kaha, All Blacks. Bring it on!! | ||
