 Rand and Hume: An Analysis

The same test to spot a false dichotomy that Leonard Peikoff used on Immanuel Kant’s analytic-synthetic dichotomy is used in this paper to evaluate David Hume’s division of knowledge into Relations of Ideas and Matters of Fact. This test reveals a certain truth to Hume’s dichotomy, but also reveals Hume’s epistemological system to be a kind of humanist empiricism.
