An Objectivist-Christian Dialogue
by Neil Parille
There has not been, to the best of my knowledge, Christian-Objectivist dialogue. I offer two areas in which dialogue would be fruitful in the narrow sense of helping to clarify opposing ideas. (Read more...)

Was Ayn Rand a Conservative?
by Neil Parille
Ayn Rand, as we know, did not consider herself a conservative. She called herself a “radical for capitalism.” In addition, many of her views were contrary to those of mainstream conservatism. She was an atheist and a fierce critic of religion. At the same time, the occasional references to Rand as a conservative call for explanation. (Read more...)

Totalism in the Philosophy of Ayn Rand
by Neil Parille
Even Ayn Rand’s critics concede that she is an exciting writer. Philosophy, often seen as one of the driest subjects, comes alive for her readers. I would suggest that one of the reasons for this is what has been called her “totalism.” (Read more...)

I suggest readers take the article as a totality & "chew" it in the scholarly spirit in which it is offered. Linz]
Ayn Rand sought to preserve the best elements of empiricism and rationalism. Nonetheless, her commitment to empiricism and rejection of a priori insight make it difficult to justify any knowledge at all. A reflectionist view of the apriori is compatible with her metaphysics and should be considered. (Read more...)

Ayn Rand and Evolution
by Neil Parille
Ayn Rand discusses evolution a few times, but never mentioned Charles Darwin. Two major summaries of Rand’s thought, The Ayn Rand Lexicon and Leonard Peikoff’s Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand, are silent. This essay will review some of Rand’s references to evolution and suggest reasons for Rand’s apparent hesitancy. (Read more...)
