Poetry

Kim #3
by Scott D. DeSalvo

What rising moon or setting sun should awe me,
Or roiling sea or crashing waves give pause?
Can mountain's might and ocean's mystery
Now 'whelm me with unchanging nature's laws?

Will I by desert heat and sand be daunted,
By sunlight on a waterfall be awed?
Shall I by Spring's first bloom be haunted,
Shall nature's grandeur blind me, though its flawed?

When hands of mine have known the touch of beauty,
And beauty graced my eyes with loving sight,
And ears have heard the siren call of duty
Sounded by my heart in love both true and right?

The heaven's heights and ocean's depths do fail;
Your beauty's heights and spirit's depth prevails.
