I watched Avatar yesterday. I was impressed with James Cameron's ability to boost the film industry, to revolutionize the technique and expand the possibilities of narrative.

However, aesthetically, the movie is a garbage. If art is "re-creation of reality according to an artist's metaphysical value judgments", the vision of Cameron reaffirms the collectivist-mystical vision of reality.

In Avatar, the capitalists are unscrupulous people, capable of decimating a rational species for profit. Cameron equals producers to "Attila" - the Randian archetype of "the man who rules by brute force, acts on the range of the moment, is
concerned with nothing but the physical reality immediately before him,
respects nothing but man's muscles, and regards a fist, a club or a gun as the
only answer to any problem "

In my view, Cameron looks like Gail Wynand, a "man who could have been," but chose to promote the "values" of social parasitism.
