America Vs. Europe
by Kyrel Zantonavitch

The split in the Western Alliance in the past year or so over how to respond to 9/11 is interesting in any number of ways. Although there still seems to be a great commonality of liberal-type values between the two respective parties, the recent opposition appears to be both dramatic and profound. And a large part of the fate of the world seems to hang in the balance.

While neither side is perfect, and their respective beliefs are far from pure, Europe currently seems to be a passive and static group of nations which is essentially dedicated to maintaining the status quo in domestic policy and stage-managing the world in foreign policy. In contrast, America currently seems to be an aggressive and dynamic nation, which is essentially dedicated to self-improvement at home and freeing the world abroad.

The "Euro-weenies" and "Axis of Weasel" countries act like shameful, pitiful amoralists and cynics who are doomed to failure by the smallness or absence of their vision. In turn, the "Ameri-heroes" and "hyper-power imperialists" present themselves as proudly defiant good-guys and idealists who might well succeed in transforming the planet.

Now that the Cold War is over, the "Euro-trash" seem to have become suddenly, inexplicably, alarmingly devoid of energy and life. This is so even though they continue to be -- and rightly so -- the very center of the world. But bereft of new ideas, they seem to exist nowadays only as obstacles to progress and the ascent of man. And now they evidently can't even reproduce their own population! This can't be good.

The new belief-system of Europe seems to be shockingly negative and reactionary. Their attitude and philosophy seems to be as follows:

  1. To hell with the impoverished, miserable, enslaved peoples of the Third World -- we want our (inherited) money, comfort, hypocritical sense of superiority, false sense of progress, and depraved, fatuous, utterly-failing Welfare State.
  2. To hell with our friends and allies the Americans, which we nevertheless expect to defend and cater to us -- and without reward or even thanks (au contraire).
  3. To hell with future Europeans even -- we got ours already!

The issue here should be pretty clear for decent people everywhere. For those with even a modicum of humanity, ambition, and hope for the future of the world, the American attitude and philosophy -- however flawed and inarticulate -- is the way to go.
