ReasonThe tradition of reasoning called freethought predates Objectivism by centuries. Both freethought and Objectivism adhere to fully naturalistic reasoning free of dogma, superstition and other common errors and evasions. Not surprisingly, many freethinkers share the Objectivist "sense of life" manifested in rational individualism. Our organization synergizes many common activities and events with the Central Florida Fellowship of Freethought (CF3), the Space Coast Freethought Association (SCFA), Wonderful Atheists Of Central Florida (WAOCFL), the Secular Student Alliance at University of Central Florida (SSA UCF) and International Atheists Meetup Day. Visit their sites to learn more. Several members of SOLO Florida also pay dues to the Eudaimonistic organization Fellowship Of Reason (FOR) and receive their brief but informative monthly newsletter. To meet other freethinkers on campuses around the world, visit the Campus Feethought Alliance and the Secular Student Alliance. One may wonder whether to work with a broad range of atheists like the Freedom from Religion Foundation and the Internet Infidels in events like the Godless Americans March on Washington to achieve mutually agreeable, single issue goals like the separation of church and state. Here is what Ayn Rand had to say on this topic in her essay "What Can One Do?": The only groups one may properly join today are ad hoc committees, i.e., groups organized to achieve a single, specific, clearly defined goal, on which men of differing views can agree. In such cases, no one may attempt to ascribe his views to the entire membership, or to use the group to serve some hidden ideological purpose (and this has to be watched very, very vigilantly). To that end, our organization has opted to affiliate itself with American Atheists, an organization whose three-fold mission is
We seek to assist in this mutually agreeable mission. We request that visitors to this site report incidents of interest or opportunities for atheist activism to the Florida State Director of American Atheists, Greg McDowell. You may e-mail him at gmcdowell@atheists.org or call him at (352) 394-2027. Here are some other Florida Objectivist sites: |
