Linz! What timing! I just mentioned you in my own discussion of men and honor because of what you wrote here.

All I can say is a great big THANK YOU for all you do, and THANK YOU to all here that continue the fight for reason in an increasingly irrational world. I know a few that would be shy of me mentioning them by name so I'll spare them. They know who they are.

I wish each and every one of you warriors a wonderful weekend.

Joy :)

Linz back on the screen on his own terms? I live for that day. Until then I shall endure the ASSCLOWNS - (sorry but thats the only word I can think of that is appropriate)that pass for journalists/presenters on our wonderful state controlled tv network.
Before you ask, why do I continue to watch? I don't. I try to be present while the ever impressionable teens are viewing some of the garbage that interests them. Making a point of getting them to listen carefully to what is being said, how it is presented, is there a balance of veiwpoints? is there objectivity?, it drives them nuts, but at least they are now begining to question a lot of what they see and hear on the idiot box.
I understand now what you mean when you express your frustration at people who don't know how to think for themselves. Thankfully, I managed to learn how with help from people such as yourself and Ayn Rand and with a little guidance, albeit annoying to the the little monsta's (not so little 15 and 17) they too will learn.
A heartfelt thanks to you Lindsay and to all those that contribute to solo. Your efforts have changed me for the better.

Lindsay is so right to point out that "polite society" and "respectable people" nowadays usually aren't. Were they ~ever~? Humanity turned solidly against reason more than two centuries ago and only recently -- courtesy of Ayn Rand and some general trends -- have we turned back a bit toward the rational light. But world culture and contemporary notions of "respectability" are still dark indeed, so it's important to remember his warnings about the dubious complimemt/achievemnet of public popularity and social acceptance. But our Fearless Leader ;-) might be wrong about resigning himself to a lifetime of pariah status. Maybe all we need to do -- to speed the revolution -- is to go out and get longer, sharper swords and then go vigorously forth in search of much bigger, meaner, deadlier monsters. Sounds like fun to ME! ;-)

I'm often asked, would I go back? My answer is, only on my terms. I give this answer knowing that I never will be accepted back on my own terms.
Linz, I'm glad it didn't even take ten years.  Your life, your terms.

Well done, my friend.  Somebody turn on the jukebox and play "My Way" -- quick!

:)

To be or not to be a Peter Keating.

By the way, that ten year mark is just around the corner.
