| | I remember when Ayn Rand died. The day before she died, John Belushi, the comedian from Saturday Night Live, died from an overdose. The difference in coverage in the media was amazing. I recall an article written at the time pointing this out, but I can't remember who wrote it.
Rand anticipated this phenomena (in a slightly different way) in Atlas Shrugged:
"Isn't it odd? When a politician or a movie star retires, we read front page stories about it. But when a philosopher retires, people do not even notice it."
"They do eventually."
