One unmentioned aspect of the policy of not offending anyone is that it is often an assimilation, to multiculturalist political goals, of old-fashined conservative censorship. Ideas that offend the conservative Christianists have been the objects of censorship for millenia, first as "heresy" or "blasphemy," today as "indecency," "obscenity," "pornography" and so on. The left's take on that is just, "hell, if we can be arrested for offending you, we'll do the same if you offend us." Sauce for the gander, sauce for the goose etc.

Excellent article ending with a rousing call to arms! I constantly use traditional American English (as I call it) at work and people are getting used to it.

I find that those who continue to point out the "politically correct" message seldom have an original thought.  As Ed Younkins has pointed out in his article,  political correctness thwarts not only original thinking but freedom itself.  This is a well-written piece which "hits the nail of political correctness on the head."

I really like your article but I do have a few questions about it

You said the language of multiculturalists principles should:

(1) not favor one group over another;
(2) not infringe on any group’s right to sovereignty;
(3) not interfere with the peaceful relationship of any minority group with those from other groups;
(4) not hinder society (i.e., the state) in its attempts to protect cultural groups (i.e., social, economic, and ethnic minorities) whose views are declared to be equally valid and who have the “right” to equal opportunity, integrity, and point of view; and
(5) not promote stereotypes of any kind.

Multiculturalists tend to divide up groups and put differences to the forefront, they make me an “African-American” when I’m just another American who happens to be black. Just by putting labels on people they can divide us up, try to split our loyalties. They do this specifically so some groups can be treated differently. I can go outside or write a paper saying some really racist stuff any no leftist would say a thing. There is also affirmative action but that’s self-explanatory.

As for number 2, I think that right except when it comes to people who disagree with them. Conservatives, Christians, us, we all don’t ‘fit’ so they can shoot us down all they want.

Number 3 depends on their definition of “peaceful relationship” as long as you don’t offend someone by doing something offensive like running a company, then you’re fine.

I think 4 is right on the head but I’d have to disagree with 5 completely, ask a multiculturalists about America, conservatives, Republicans, or capitalists and they will show you the definition of stereotyping. Look at what they did to Condoleezza Rice for “defecting” and even getting a promotion. You would think a black woman in her position would get all praise, but since she’s not one of them, she becomes an Aunt Jemima.

If I sounded, a little hard, I’m sorry. I can’t come close to writing a piece that good but I had to put my two cents in. Please, if you want, who me where I messed up.

Hi Clarence:

I am happy you liked the essay.

You are right on target with your comments!!!

Remember I did not say that multiculturalists are consistent just that these are the "principles" they expound!

:)

Thanks!!!

Ed
