I read a similar article just the other day that you may enjoy: "Are we a republic or a democracy?" by Dr. Walter E. Williams, Professor of Economics at George Mason University.

Well, the ironic thing about republicanism is that a majority has to agree that a majority ~should not~ be able to violate individual rights for the system to work. 99 per cent of the American population believe in majoritarian theft and slavery, at least to some degree, so we have a virtually hopeless situation. It is hardly just Boxer.
