Thank you very much for your response. I particularly appreciate that you think what I wrote helps to"made it real" for you. Because it is real. Real human beings just like you and me were there. And my experience is but one of millions.

Have you ever thought of writing a full-length book about your experiences growing up in Communist China and of your transition to an entirely different kind of society in the West?
Yes, I have. But I am not sure that I'd ever do it. Thinking about the past is inevitable. But to dwell on it too much is not good for my present work and life.

Strangely, I never felt any significant obstacle in my transition to the life in America. I guess I'd already made that transition in my mind and in my heart, if not in practice, before coming here, especially after June 4 of 1989. While abandoning all that had been indoctrinated in me since early childhood, I sort of embraced American way of life wholeheartedly from the moment I set foot on it soil.
