I'd like to congratulate both Judith and John, it's always great to see people moving forward.  It's been quite inspiring to me as well, the graphic novel I've been planing doesn't seem so out of reach now that I've read all this.

John,

Thank you for a very interesting and atypical article. I don't know if you noticed, but the thread that your articles has spawned has added to the wealth of information you provided to the extent that this whole thing has become a complete how-to thing for self-publishing. I do want to hear about the marketing and sales, though, when you get to it.

I greatly appreciated the extra information by Robert Bidinotto, num++ and Judith Kristen.

btw - Judith, please post more that that one post. You sound like a very interesting go-after-your-own-dream type person I personally value. I have no doubt that many others here share my opinion.

Michael

Hi...  it's Judy again. (Judith Kristen)

Thank you all for your lovely words and comments... it was very sweet of you!!!

Good news!!!!!

(Drum roll, please)  :)

I got a call from Marcy G. Kaplan... she is a producer on the TV show "HOUSE."

She read "The Purple Hat Gang" ( my tale of 5 best girlfriends - on the cusp of adulthood - way back in 1961) and she loved it!!!!

And, she asked if I had a script written for it. (always the over-thinker, of course I had a screenplay written) :)

Well, Marcy asked to see it. She doesn't handle this type of production, but she knows many who would be happy to!!!

If I could do a backflip I would.

I'm thinking positive.   Oh, yeah....

and....

I'm thinking Hallmark...Disney...

Oh, and I'm STILL thinking OPRAH.  Even though at the moment it looks more like NOPRAH.

Well...

"He is able who thinks he is able."   as I always say.

And I'm ready, willing AND able!  :)

I'll keep you up to date as things pick up speed.

Nice to be here, and again, thank you for the warm welcome.

:)

Judy

P.S.  How do I post a photo???

Judith,
Congratulations. You have just broken through one of the most difficult barriers. Kudos to your persistence and to having material someone wished to see. Best of luck with the process to come.

You can send your photo to Jeff Landauer or Joe Rowlands via email (I believe via admin@solohq.com) and it should get posted.

Again, congrats.

Just an update on "Latex vs. Word " typesetting - an article in OSnews popped up and it may be of interest to some people here.

LaTeX isn't for everyone but it could be for you

And my congratulations to Judith too.

I naturally wonder why you didn't also consider doing PDF's. It certainly makes them cheaper to produce. They are also easier to bootleg, however.
