I thought this story was going to be about two gay men who organize their labor so as to mirror the workings of a free market.

Well, I wasn't completely wrong. :)

Kyle,

Hah! What, were you thinking of something on the order of "Ace and Gary" (The Ambiguously Gay Duo)?

You know, I'm not one to mix metaphors, but I wanted this story to have broad appeal.

:-)

Ed,

There's a piece of anti-gay rhetoric floating around that reads "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve", so I thought your story may have remarked upon that, if only in a humorous way.

I've never heard of The Ambiguously Gay Duo, but I just looked them up on Youtube. It was pretty funny.

Are you going to begin writing fables? I've had a few ideas of my own but I've been somewhat busy, so I haven't had time to write.

Kyle,

I might have heard about that reference to Adam and Steve, and it might have had an unconscious effect on my choice of a title. That's the trouble with fables, I guess. The ideas are so universal that you see them popping up everywhere. If broad ideas could be patented or "copywritten", then this short story of mine would be guilty on about a dozen counts of copyright infringement!

:-)

As an exercise for the reader, see if you can find some of the dozen or so of these "copyright-infringing" instances in my story line.

Ed
