This article is great because It reminds me that nature is on our side. As you mention, no arbitrary government controls can remain absolute, as there are all ways "tax havens", loopholes, and underground channels to protect property and trade, not to mention the economic impossibilities involved even if they do cooperate. This can be distinguished from government busts of underground murder and theft networks, as the criminals are the ones evading reality not the authorities. I am very curious to know the impacts of this evasion of reality on the politicians, bureaucrats and cronies themselves, as I can't imagine happiness achieved by extortion. It would be interesting to see some discussion of the individual impact of statist evasions, rather than just the "collective" consequences.

'Getting away with it' is only one side of the medallion.

The other is fear: fear of having values denied, fear of having my production destroyed, fear of having my life taken ... lose that fear and no thief can take anything from you - if I die he has no more victim to mooch from, if I stop producing he has nothing to steal, if I don't want anything I can't create myself he has nothing to withhold from me for coercion.

Most thieves and moochers are blind to that reality and keep extorting, destroying, anyway but at least I don't prolong their little feast by giving in to their threats, even if I have to give up some creativity and quite a lot of values (depending on the moocher of the neighborhood).

Of course I could also do a full-on Ragnar on them and protect what is mine - then I'd at least have some fun blowing them up :D

"If they believe that the purpose of my life is to serve them, let them try to enforce their creed."
