| | Back when I was developing software, my supervisor was looking over my shoulder as the program I was demoing crashed. I said, as developers often do, "That shouldn't have happened." And then I opined that it clearly the fault of something other than my code. He was a wise old fellow and just smiled and said, "It not the horse, it's the rider."
I came to love that saying (although, not right then)... It's so neat the way people's brow's furrow up when you say it, as they ponder just what you're implying and whether or not they should object.
