I have not read this book, so correct me if i'm wrong, but from the summary it sounds like a feminist guilt trip

No, it's a diatribe against the authoritarian religious right and sexual repression. Infertile women who want babies virtually enslave the fertile ones and when they give birth the babies are taken away from them and given to their masters. Men participate in this but they get no pleasure from the impregnation act. It's a chilling story but Atwood's style is great.
