Good book - I have read the whole series now.  This one was one of the best of the series.

Sam Raimi (of Spiderman fame) is apparently a big fan of this series and is good friends with Goodkind. They have been working together on making a television SERIES based on all of the Sword of Truths book, where 1 season of the show roughly equals 1 of the books. The first season, 22 episodes which follow the 1st book, has all ready entered into production.

This looks like it could be a fantastic series.

This was my primer for the concept of Objectivism. This book mirrored my own beliefs in such a startling way, and I was blown away when I first read it. I feel that this was the first book I had ever read that changed my life because I was compelled to research Terry Goodkind further, which eventually led me to Ayn Rand's works. Finally, I had a name to put to my belief system In many ways, because of my own journey, I truly understood the character Nicci from FotF, because like Nicci, I did not understand that by through the desire to pursue my own happiness, I was making the world around me better. Also like Nicci, it took a profound work of artistic achievement to open my eyes.

Thanks for the post Tim - I felt the same way the first time I read Rand, though in my case I read her before Terry, but it is good to see him helping make some of the same ideas available to new audiences.

Not sure about the series - I think it is decent so far as fantasy goes, but it is totally not like the books and in some cases seems to be veering too far off on the philosophy, which is my main point of contention - then again this is "early" Richard still.

I am not surprised you feel that way about the TV series Kurt. In my eyes, the Legend of the Seeker was an instant abomination to Terry Goodkind's works. While I want to say 'I am shocked Mr. Goodkind would allow this' I am cannot because I am sure Disney paid him very well o do whatever they want to it. So I can't blame him a bit for taking the big payoff and letting Disney go off on their tangents with it. It is obvious whoever was in charge of converting the books into script form missed the point of his books entirely. But being that Hollywood and their broken ideals were involved, I am not a bit surprised.
