Over the years, I have bough several non-classical albums, and the vast majority of them aren't played more than a few times. I have had this for decades, and I still play it regularly.

Uuugh! The radio has just started playing excerpts from the soundtack to the new Cole Porter movie. (And that's not a typo!)

It is not de-lightful and is the very opposite of de-lovely; it is dees-gusting, and as dreadful as my awful pun! There is no evidence from it that Robbie Williams et al have any ability whatsoever to interpret music. None. Comparing the movie's soundtack to Ella's delicious interpretations of Porter's confections demonstrates the distance between what was once popular music and what we have now - it's a measure of what we're losing in modern music, and in ourselves if bland pap is all we give ourselves to listen to.

James, I also love this album.

And Peter, I didn't jump into the fray about your article, but I wanted to say that I enjoyed it very much and it sparked much discussion over the weekend.
