Have you visited http://aynrand.meetup.com yet? I know there is a very active Objectivist group in Texas that uses Meetup to plan its events. We are preparing a total remodeling of the local clubs section of RoR but if you feel an overwhelming urge to have an RoR Texas page now, I am sure we can arrange something.
I haven't been there in a while. I am in Austin. There actually is a reading group that features Tara Smith, but they all seem pretty dedicated to ARI.

A couple weeks ago, one guy asked me if I was getting anything out of the group. Apparently he had objected to some of my comments on Atlas Shrugged.
I comment on the verbosity of it, for example. I also commented that Dagny addresses Rearden as Hank, while Lillian and his mother say Henry. I have lost interest.
