Did you all know that when O'Reilly was interviewed by Tim Russert on CNBC tonight, he threatened to flat out quit his radio show, Atlas Shrugged style, if his taxes were raised any higher?

I loved it.

By the way, the title of this thread wasn't supposed to be "O"...It was supposed to be, "O'Reilly threatens to Shrug."  There must have been a glitch.

That is so cool!! Did O'Reilly actually mention Atlas Shrugged? I'd heard about the interview but Tim Russert's show doesn't seem to be carried on CNBC Europe :'(

As for the title, I had exactly the same problem with the "Michael Moore v O'Reilly" thread! Maybe the ' symbol after the O causes problems?

No, unfortunately O'Reilly didn't actually mention Atlas Shrugged...But I still thought it was cool.

Daniel,

A few excerpts from the interview were broadcast on The O'Reilly Factor (which I do have access to) and I don't think they showed the section you referred to, but it did look like one hell of a confrontation!

It was a great interview.  Krugman was literally shaking.  Here's a link to the transcript:  http://pkarchive.org/economy/TimRussert080704.html

Here's the quote of O'Reilly threatening to quit his radio show:

"Mr. O'REILLY: See, I don't believe that at all, and let me give you a personal example. I work my buns off, all right? I'm sure both of you do, too. And I make a lot of money. I like to make--now if they raise taxes on me any more--because I live in the most heavily taxed state in the union, New York, all right? I'm paying taxes like crazy. Every time I turn around, I'm paying more taxes. If they tax me any more, I'm knocking the radio out. I'm not going to do it, all right? Now how many people lose jobs then? Fifty because O'Reilly says, 'Not worth it. I'm not going to...' "
