Okay, I'm not sure I'm following this split up of solohq now that it has taken place ...it looks as though the identical posts and threads are in both places. But the archive is still open on Joe's site...which means that is where people will post...and closed on Linz's...which means what is going to happen there?

So what is new exactly? It's late at night...and I may be unusually dense...but I don't yet see the advantage or improvement - except that the audience might now be split?

Am I missing something really obvious...and do I need some sleep?

Phil, I'm right behind you, man. Beddy-bye time!

But first, I'm going to honor your request from earlier in this thread and post "my story."  I don't see how it can possibly rise to the level of sheer angst and drama of Michael Kelly's story posted several months ago. Still, I think it will be helpful or, at least, interesting. It is my version "up from despair."

Congratulations, Joe -- and everyone -- on the rebirth of the discussion forum in a new context of activism!

Aaron,
You are quite correct. The UI is especially well done.

Dean or anyone else involved on the website - I got the impression you were doing custom web development. What platform? Did you start with any common forum implementations (PHPNuke, DotNetNuke, etc.), or go completely from scratch?
Jeff wrote the whole site from scratch. I wrote the current email and login code. I can't say "thanks for the compliment" because you are complimenting Jeff, not me : ).

Jeff, Dean, Joe,

My congratulations on the high quality of the software of this site, especially the user interfaces and the usability/accessibility and aesthetic design. This is definitely the best software and design job at ANY discussion site on the entire Web. I would love to use it as an example, in my Unversity courses, on how to do things right (any possibility of permission and source?) And it is a great example of the advantage of using Objectivist Epistemology to master a Knowledge/Action Domain.

With great admiration,

Couple other user-friendly and intelligent things I didn't mention in post 0:

10. On the posting pages - numbering of -clickable- pages so you can go anywhere within over a hundred posts. It's surprising that even commercial sites (I shop for books and ther products at Amazon, BN, Walmart, Target, etc.) when you want to find something you have to page -sequentially- through a half dozen pages, even when they are sorted alphabetically and you know the thing you want is in the middle or at the end. [Google does this properly, as does Solo].

11. And let's not forge the ability to -edit- your posts. (I recently posted something to Diana H's comments section. I overstated or exaggerated my point, but I couldn't go back and alter it..had to make another post after a number of comments had intervened and people would just say huh? what is this in reference to? or have to flip back and look it up.)
