Next week I am off to London to see Shakespeare. I am taking advantage that London is just a hop away from New York. I will stay with some good friends in Notting Hill Gate during the week and in the country side, Dorset, on the weekend, you know clotted cream and tea and all that.

One friend is the CEO of a company working to create an organic fast food chain the other is a couple with a family I have seen grow up, they are significant people in the financial world.

It is magnificent to see them living their lives successfully, ethically, and with pizzaz– they are not into abstract ideas its that their priority is living well and they use intellectual ideas to serve those ends.

Cheerio,

Michael

Going to that foggy island Nor' east of France at this time of year? Well, I hope you have a good time. You may just be able to manage that if you stay in door all the time I guess. ;-^

If you're going to see Shakespeare’s plays, there's no place like London! Pretty cool!

An organic fast-food chain? Almost sounds like an oxymoron. But, seriously, healthy fast food is probably "just what this country needs."

I'm not as big on organic as I am on just eating healthfully -- low fat, complex carbs and all that. If we just had a fast-food chain that sold that, it would be a big improvement. Of course, there are already Juice Bars, like the Jamba Juice chain. Don't know whether it's organic though. What kind of fast food will your friend be selling?

Hong,

Oh this is a great time to go to London because I will have no expectation of good weather. Of course I will have a good time being in and out. ;)

Bill,

Yes, my expectation to see Shakespeare in London is high, I’ll report back on it. You can go to Matthew’s site: http://www.matthewbellassociates.co.uk/ but the chain food store is work in progress.

About organic stuff my one store, of any kind, in the neighborhood is organic food store. I find I enjoy thinking that there are not an undue amount of chemicals in the foods.

Cheers,
Michael

Michael,
O'ists do not like Shakespeare, that filthy naturalist.  Rand said it, I believe it, that settles it!! ;)

Do you know yet which particular play you will be seeing?  Or various plays?

I'd go to the Queen Musical "We Will Rock You" at Dominion Theatre. :-)

Well, that's what we did a few years ago. Actually I didn't make it, but my husband went to see the musical with a friend during that trip to England.

Did I offend Objectivist aesthetic principles again?!?! ;-)

Some of my loveliest visits to London have been in the wintertime. Especially Christmas, but I suppose you've missed that. In all honesty, I have spent some summer weeks there that the weather was dreary so I don't think that could possibly be the draw.

I did a Janet Cardiff walk there which operated out of Whitechapel Art Gallery. It was sort of strange but very interesting if you are into auditory experiences.

And if you like Belgian food, there is a wonderful place there for it called Belgo Centraal, I think. There was one in NYC for a while but it's not there anymore. (Although Markt is quite good. Actually, I went to a place called Cafe Bruxelles (?) I think for my birthday and it had an even nicer atmosphere. I think Markt is a little meat-markety. But now I am talking about NY. I guess I don't have that many London suggestions as I spent the majority of my time there in bed :-)
