| | I did not grow up watching any Marx Bros films, because they simply did not seem to be around on TV in NZ. I have tried to subsequently watch one or two of the films, including a "night at the opera", but I just don't find them funny at all. If I had seen any of their movies at about the age of ten, I probably would have liked them, and may indeed be nostalgic about them as an adult. That is the only explanation I can come up with for why many Americans seem to treasure these films. Incidentally, when I have heard excerpts of just "Graucho Marx" speaking on his own, I do find him to be quite witty and talented. But as a complete Marx Bros package it does not do anything for me, especially the slapstick humour just leaves me cold.
