"A life lived in fear is a life half-lived." -- How could you fail to mention that?

Yes, I've watched this movie several times. I still get choked up when I think of Scott sliding to the middle of the dance floor on his knees and when the music is stopped and Fran's mother (?) claps the beat so that Scott and Fran can continue dancing, and when Scott's mother and father dance again after so many years, and..., and...

Yes, I've seen and thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful!

No, Fran's mother is (presumably) deceased. Her household appears to consist of her father and her grandmother.

The person doing the clapping to get the dancing going again during the competition is Scott's father -- who has for years been cowed and intimidated by Scott's prestige-crazed, sell-out mother and finally breaks out of his shell. It's nice that they reconciled in the end, but I would prefer that she had gone through a bit more atonement first.

Strictly Ballroom is one of my favorite romantic-comedy movies. It's quirky, but sweet, and it has a good message about integrity and loyalty to one's values.
