The last time Linz was closer to 40 than 60, I was closer to thin than fat.

Reed,

Those would be words to warm my Polish heart.  Unfortunately, the only Polish I know are the few words and phrases my grandfather would pen in his greeting cards.

Rooster,

I'll translate. This is the final line of Galczynski's poem that is probably the best piece of political poetry I've ever read. "Skumbria" is Polish for Mackerel, a fish that emits a horrid stink when dead. Because of its stink, it is often invoked as a metaphor for fascism and corruption. "Skumbria w tomacie" means "mackerel in tomato sauce", that is, fascist corruption covered in Red to hide the stench. "Mackerel in tomato sauce" is a very, very Polish metaphor for Socialism.

Serwus,
Adam

Ooops, another blunder of mine. The estimation of Linz'a age is now revised to be between 50 and 60. Hopefully we are now closer to the truth.

Note to James Kilbourne: from your tiny picture, you look to me closer to thin than fat; but from the tune of your post, I figure that your own opinion is otherwise.

Thanks, Reed.  That's one I'll remember.
