I recall an ancient Greek comedy that Robert Mayhew translated involving the wives of both sides of a war declaring a sex strike to stop the war their husbands started.  I do not recall the title, however.  I have not read it but a classmate in college back in the 1980s read an earlier translation which included the memorable line, "... nor move in the direction of the erection."

Perhaps someone here can share with us the name of this classic text.

Euripides' The Trojan Women. Made into a '71 movie with Katherine Hepburn. Wiki has a list of noted translators; strangely Sartre wrote one 'largely faithful to the original text.'

Moi mistake. Sharon's correct. How I mixed those two plays up, don't ask.

Wow I didn't know it was getting that serious in Columbia. Can someone help explain to me exactly what the scene is like down there?

Jacob:

It appears that an over-abundance of lead-spraying (worse than DDT) resulted in a pronounced drying up of...nookie.
An area can't get much worse than that for living in.

There is also Plan Colombia, an imperialistic program typical of a corrupt empire (the USA). Basically, planes go over Colombia and spray chemicals all over the place. They are hoping to kill drug plants. Of course, it spreads all over the place (including other countries) and probably takes out legitimate crops.

One of my friends had a girl friend from Ecuador who talked about it quite a bit. The spray hit there as well.

The best thing for Colombia right now would be for the USA to legalize all drugs.

It's "Lysistrata," an anti-war comedy by Aristophanes. I loved it.
