We already have several ways to directly stimulate the brain's pleasure center. Junkies rarely compare shooting up to eating cake.

According to this "logic" Richard prior was an early pioneer in the field.

The naivete of this "researcher" and this article is disturbing.

I want one of those machines from the 1983 movie Brainstorm that can play a peak sexual experience directly into my brain repeatedly on demand.

As for the pastry issue, hell, how about dark chocolate, the truly orgasmic experience?

Great, Science has evolved to the point where we can simulate things that are readily available using invasive brain surgery...
Sounds like a totally marketable innovation.

I am surprised these "researchers" don't have grants to smoke crystal meth.

Or maybe they already are?

The ""researchers"" are leaders in their field, "Ted Keer", the problem here is bad "journalists". If you actually read some of Aziz's or Kringlebach's "papers" you'd see that they are doing much more interesting stuff than just simulating the experience of "eating" a "pastry". Hmpf.

And if you had any common sense you would realize, "Jeremy" that directly stimulating the pleasure center of the brain is just a bit more dangerous than eating pastry. I suggest you ask some junkies at your local homeless shelter, shooting gallery, insane asylum, or morgue.

No it's not. You could choke to death on a pastry.
