Wow.
Presidents grousing at the press is a time honored tradition, but that lecture is bordering on megalomania(and specifically, paternalistic megalomania.)
Those who disagree with his self-described reasonable, centrist (and socialist) agenda and cling to their quaint fringe notions of freedom and individual liberty are 'extremists,' and if the press doesn't report it that way, why, he'll provide the press releases for them.
Can't wait until my grandchildren are visiting his wax figure in a museum somewhere, standing on the caboose, wrapped in bunting, waving 'Goodbye' on the farewell tour of the last train out of FDR Station. The exhibit will be called "When America Almost Lost It All."
I'll tell them, "Yeah, it was scary. When I was your age, I used to wonder how folks in Germany could fall under the spell of a charismatic leader and let the entire nation go insane under some tyrant wannabe, but it almost happened in America."
If I'm wrong, and it goes the other way, those grandkids will apparently be killing each other at the annual Hunger Games, in fealty to an ever more powerful central state...
He's stressing. He's losing it. He is going to be at his most dangerous between now and Nov, because he recognizes this is it, last chance to make this slop fly in America. The entire weight of every left wing loon in history is bearing down on his skinny shoulders, and he is feeling it.
Unfortunately, if he loses, some GOP lightweight drives the bus, will do little to change our trajectory, and eventually, (rightfully) share the blame for this massive tribal C.F. Romney gave a great victory speech the other night, said many of the right things, but I don't see him carrying the required axe to DC, just making more lip service speeches to freedom while the bus drives on, over the cliff.
