Mike, thanks for linking to this. You can imagine the underlying message of this piece:
Reach for mediocrity, grab onto it, and do not let it go -- it is the only thing keeping you human. If you want to be good -- and most of us do -- then do not ever succeed.
What a terrible sense of life!

Ed

What jumped out at me in this article was the fact they totally missed the association of bad behavior and the unfair conditions they set up in the experiment. I believe strongly that liberal policies are self fulfilling prophecies, they introduce coercion to correct "bad behavior" which has the result of producing bad outcomes which they propose to fix by more coercive policies. Force is toxic, it produces cynicism and removes faith in the goodness of others. The policies also produce winners, recipients of handouts and government workers. These become vested interests which work hard to keep the coercive policies and agencies. As predictable as rain. What I worry about Obamacare: they are working as hard as possible to create as many vested interests as they can as early as they can to muster up support to prevent Obamacare from being reversed. The Republicans don't have the guts to do anything but pander to vested interests once they are formed.

Very astute, Mike,

Unfortunately, most politicians see government intervention as the way to correct problems created by.... government intervention. They blame the "free market" for the problems, omitting the fact that the markets are anything but free.
