I didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade, just to point out the facts and I'll also point out that most Objectivists aren't terribly different in salient personality characteristics than from before they became Objectivists. I tend to think the strong(!) emphasis Rand put on shared values was because she was a philosopher and ideas in the humanities occupied the most important place in her hierarchy of values. Some years back, I went to a traditional Catholic wedding for my best friend in grade school. The funniest part was watching a Catholic priest give a lecture to a doctor and microbiologist about sex! And through it all I can remember thinking I wouldn't have minded meeting the bride first.
