I have an old friend from the engineering department at my workplace who left to enter private real estate development full time a few years ago. He just called me, quite excited about the Objectivist Party (OP) and the fact that it has managed to get onto the ballot in Florida and Colorado (so far). He hit numerous road blocks in his business and subsequently read Atlas Shrugged and found it very enlightening. I warned him of the many pitfalls of political activism based on my experience with the Libertarian Party. In any case, he expects to become president of the OP Florida state chapter in the near future and hopes to run for county commissioner. I invited him to our local PROPEL(TM) Ayn Rand Meetup just to see what he has to say and pulse him further -- not to promote the OP or any candidate but just to get him exposed to some people who have lived the philosophy for a long time. We shall see where that leads, though it will definitely not change PROPEL(TM)'s non-partisan charter.

I will consider changing my voter registration from No Party Affiliation to OP after more research though I remain quite skeptical.

While I am not at all opposed to registering Objectivist Party on any a priori grounds, i am not aware that any existing candidates or party structures of good reputation. If, on the one hand, you register Objectivist party in order to strengthen and build such a party, you may be in at the beginning of a good thing. But then you might also be joining up with the Lyndon Larouche and Cynthia McKinney types who fly under false colors and have plagued such entities as the Independence Party in New York State. Indeed, Tom Golisano, NYS Independence Party candidate for governor, has just pulled up stakes and left New York altogether, although that seems to have had more to do with state tax levels than with the racist and marxist Lenora Fulani and her subversion of the party he helped found.
