Famous words by Lindsay Perigo!

Linz uttered his famous “fuck off” in post number 10 of a thread. As of this date there have been an additional 46 post on that thread! Within those responses are a chastisement by her Majesty Barbara Branden, a staunch defense by Joe Rowlands, a PM from yours truly to Perigo, and an innumerable number of denunciations and defenses.

Not only that, but the now infamous “fuck off” spawned a new article of its own by Perigo himself. That thread now has 18 atlas points, a War and Peace length response from the incomprehensible dialectical magician, and 48 other responses!

Now think what you will about Mr. Perigo, but one has to grant him an extraordinary way with words if he is able to illicit such a response with an economy of words bordering on the ridiculous.

There is a true story that occurred during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. The Germans had surrounded the city of Bastogne and demanded that the American General surrender his forces; his response to the German ultimatum was, “Nuts!” When this information was relayed to General Patton (attempting to break the encirclement of the city) he is reported to have laughed and said, “We have to breakthrough, a man that eloquent has to be saved!”

Now if only I could figure out a way to get as a great a response with my boring articles?

George, I can assure that your articles are far from boring. In fact, I thought "The Sky is Falling" was so good I recommended it to a friend of mine.

So far, I have remained silent on this whole MH/Linz spat. I tend to agree with Joe: MH picked a fight, and Linz overreacted and gave him a thrashing. I hope the whole thing will be settled soon and that we will see MH and Linz return to their earlier habits of making enjoyable posts. Come on guys, we have an election aftermath to sort out here!

Stunning, Mr Cordero! A timely & suitably hilarious intervention. I read it just before I pre-recorded my regular TV gig tonight, & I swear I did my best one ever, energised by your post.

I want to say that this episode, on the other thread, has become way too self-righteous, not to mention downright nasty, on the part of the anti-Linz cabal. They are a bevy of blowhards, a pack of prigs, an array of anals, a henhouse of humbugs, a twitter of twerps. If I see one more sanctimonious lecture on civility directed at me by these pontificating paragons of propriety I shall throw up. They can ... well, they know what they can do.

Now here's something you precious little pretzels really *ought* to worry about. I've just learned that that turgid, but oh-so-civil, dirge called Navigator, from TOC, is yet again about to pronounce New Zealand the freest country on earth. I won't here reiterate why this claim is risible & numbingly stupid - that'll keep for an upcoming article. I'll post here what I've just posted to them:

I'm rather amused at the idea that anyone who disagrees with the leader here is heavily punished & eventually excommunicated. I don't & can't see any other Objectivist site running with as much criticism of its leader as there has been here of me. MH got a verbal thrashing because he pushed me beyond the limit. Notwithstanding, I have apologised for that part of the thrashing that was undeserved; I don't know what else I'm expected to do. And in truth, the anti-Linz cabal (I use the term informally - I'm not suggesting a conspiracy, & I'm not so conceited as to imagine one) - wouldn't let up no matter *what* I did. That's shown by the fact that most of them only ever come out of the woodwork when I blow my stack at someone, as if to say, "Now's our chance!" Most of the rest of the time you never hear from them. And when they *do* come out of the woodwork they speak with a venom that makes anything I say look complimentary. Every positive contribution I have made to the cause of reason & freedom - The Free Radical, the Politically Incorrect Show, SOLO - is, in the eyes of these people who themselves contribute bugger all, wiped out by the fact that I blow my stack at people (who, never, of course, have provoked me). Such a lack of perspective is, if I may invoke Sciabarra, beyond baffling!

In any event, there's an orgy of leader-bashing going on right now right here on this site, & I don't see anyone suffering any consequences at all. Actually, it's often the leader, in the case of those still under moderation, who physically *posts* their contributions abusing him! The people who claim they've been banned have not been; the membership of one person (the volitional robots lunatic) has been disabled because he himself said he wished his articles removed & wanted nothing further to do with SOLO.

Heavy punishments followed by excommunications? I don't think so.

It is quite true, as Lindsay said, that excommunications do not occur at Solo. And disagreements with Lindsay are not only allowed, but encouraged.

Nor did events occur in the early days of Objectivism as Murray Rothbard suggested. His article consists both of outright fabrications and of real events exaggerated to the point of fabrication. His readers might consider the possibility that the article is an instance of exceedingly sour grapes. I know it sets my teeth on edge.

I agree with Lindsay here... and I'll go a step further:

I think the problem is that Lindsay may not appreciate the fear-based perception that others have of him, for the position he holds at SOLO. I think he pictures himself as just another verbal fighter in the pit, but that others know his title and position and see him as the wielder of highest power here, and fear him for it.

I think they expect a more Switzerland-ish sort of demeanor from someone in Linz's position, and misinterpret his hell-fire admonishments as "mad tyrant" indicators instead of someone eager to cast off the yoke of detached responsibility, and get down in the pit and fight, too.

I must say that hadn't occurred to me. I guess I assume everyone *knows* I'm a fighter & won't get too uptight about some misdirected punches. Swiss demeanour? Not from me! :-)
