You could say the same about the United States of America currently Paul. At last count the US had 138 foreign based Army and Marine garrisons, air force & naval bases, not to mention CIA prisons, and other stuff less well known to us. This is the pattern of an empire not a limited government of a constitutional republic.

The US government which funds all this is also technically bankrupt too, and so is paying for this whole enterprise with debt sold to China, Japan, and Middle Eastern potentates.

Objectively speaking the USA will probably be the next world-empire to collapse. The US is in the same position the USSR was in about 1985. The political and economic leadership holding America’s world empire together are about to shrug them off Atlas-style pretty soon methinks.

We live in interesting times eh?

Incorrect.  We live in interesting times, but not because the USA is collapsing.  Regardless of what any ideological group might want to think (including wishful thinking on the part of some  "libertarians") the American economy is the strongest on the planet by a longshot.  Far from colapsing we are thriving.  If you have any real evidence to back up your assertion I am all ears.
