| | Glad to hear fascism mentioned. Certainly there are some (or many) in the government who would like to see the state own those 'essential' industries such as energy and manufacturing and banking outright. This we've seen before and it is rightly named. However, there is a large group, perhaps much larger than the former, which wishes only to see the government control. These are the smarter among the policy makers. Smarter because they understand the mental game they are playing better than the socialist do.
Why take responsibility for actually producing something? Why not just ensure that what is produced is done so at the order of those in political power? When things go well, they may take all the credit; when things fall apart, the blame can always be passed to those who actually own and produce (and so have responsibility).
